8 Dos and Don’ts for Your Proposal
You’ve found the one you want to spend the rest of your life with, and you want to make the proposal an everlasting memory you both will cherish. Take note of these dos and don’ts!
Do put a lot of thought into the location. When selecting the location of your proposal, think about places that have significance in your relationship. For example, where you had your first kiss, your favorite date night spot or somewhere you’ve traveled together.
Do think about timing. Would a late evening proposal make you nervous all day? If so, proposing in the afternoon or early evening might be the best option for you! Plus, it will give you more time to celebrate together after.
Do hire a professional photographer. Hiring a photographer to capture your special moment will help you remember the day forever. You could even hire a hidden photographer and then give her the photos as a wedding gift!
Do have a backup plan. Always have a backup plan in case something gets in the way of the original plan for whatever reason. Make sure everyone in on the proposal is up to speed so they can adjust without giving away the surprise.
Don’t forget property rules. If you are setting up your proposal somewhere public, make sure you have a permit or the permission to do so. And if you are orchestrating something elaborate, make sure you are following the property rules!
Don’t be too obvious. Try not to act different or do something you normally wouldn’t do just to pull off your proposal. She might catch on if you are trying too hard to keep it a secret.
Don’t copy someone else’s. It’s important for your proposal to be unique and reflect your relationship. Make sure to personalize it with your own words and ideas. Make it sentimental!
Don’t overthink it. Your proposal doesn’t have to be perfect. If you go off script or stumble over some words, laugh it off. This is all about celebrating your love, so enjoy it!
