Welcome to the Wonderful World of Pearls

I have to start off by saying that I just LOVE pearls. I truly believe they can be worn for every occasion. There are a few different type of pearls, all with unique properties, so let me introduce you to the options.

Cultured freshwater pearls are usually found in the lakes and rivers of China. Because the freshwater mollusk creates up to 40 pearls at a time, they are the most affordable option. I love the variety of colors that freshwater pearls come in—of course you have classic white, but they also are available in lavender, pink and peach. One of my favorite pieces is this multi-colored strand that showcases the range of colors. It looks so chic paired with a bangle bracelet and pink freshwater pearl studs.

Cultured Akoya pearls are an iconic accessory that have been worn by women for decades. The pearls come from the saltwaters of Japan and are grown in a Pinctada fucata oyster. They have a bright shine due to remaining in the oyster for longer, making them a stunning accessory for a special occasion like a wedding, anniversary or birthday. You just can’t go wrong with a beautiful strand of Akoya pearls paired with dangle earrings and a matching bracelet.

Cultured Tahitian pearls have a bolder look with hues ranging from peacock green and silver green to blue and eggplant. They are grown in Pinctada Margaritifera oysters, which are found in Tahiti. For a fashion-forward look, I love this sterling silver Tahitian pearl necklace, bracelet and earrings.
